Preview AMC's The Prisoner
It seems like I've been waiting on this forever, and now it's coming in November on AMC, a remake of Patrick McGoohan's landmark series The Prisoner.
I'm more than a little optimistic about this; the original series is probably my second-favourite TV show of all time, nestled securely between Star Trek and Twin Peaks. And were I ever to get to visit the library in Dylan Horrocks's Hicksville, the first thing I would check out would be Jack Kirby's comics adaptation:

I love The Prisoner, but this remake seems to be trying too hard. The original was enigmatic and open. This one seems to be just about creating a mystery to be solved.
I don't get that impression at all, but of course we won't know for sure until it's rolled out some episodes. It's far different than what I was expecting, but I'm hopeful it really is a continuance of the original series and its ideas, and not just a remake/rehash.
